Supplier Response to the Emergency Situation in Japan
posted on 03/16/2011 at 2:30 pm EST
We are shocked and saddened by the disaster that has befallen our friends and associates in Japan. While we pray for their safety and security, we know that they are a strong and resilient people and will overcome the effects of this terrible tragedy.
Upon receiving the initial news of the earthquake, we immediately began contacting our suppliers requesting updates on how the events of March 11th might affect the flow of their products to our customers. Heilind suppliers with significant Japanese operations include TE Connectivity, Molex, FCI, Omron, Hirose, JAE, JST, NKK, Yamaichi and Fujitsu. While none of these suppliers has reported meaningful damage to their Japanese plants, each reports that they do not yet know what damage the quake and resulting tsunami might have done to their supply chains (i.e. their raw material suppliers and sub-contractors). Our suppliers have also noted that it may be some time before they know the full impact of the damage done to Japan’s transportation network, communications network, electrical grid, and sea ports, any of which could affect their operations.
Our suppliers have all committed to regularly updating us on the status of their operations and supply chain as events permit. To make it easier for customers to quickly plug into this dynamically changing situation, we will post those updates here, on this page, as we receive them. Check back here regularly for the latest supplier news from Japan.
Regarding Heilind’s operations, 100% of our inventory is located in our North American distribution centers. Your order backlog and inventory reserves already in our possession are secure and available for delivery.
We recognize the importance of a stable, predictable supply chain to our customers. Heilind is committed to working with our suppliers to maintain a continual, consistent, and sufficient flow of material to your operations. Thank you for your support and understanding. Please let us know how best we can serve you in this difficult time.
