Smart Audio Jacks Support High-Definition Audio Technology in Desktop PCs
FCI has developed a family of smart audio jack connectors able to support 192Khz / 32-bit high definition audio technology in desktop and entertainment PCs. The Smart Audio Jack series includes 35.5mm-high, triple-stack connectors for the new Balanced Technology Extended (BTX) small form factor systems as well as 38.5mm-tall modules for the Advanced Technology Extended (ATX) form factor. Each jack port incorporates an isolated switch to provide functionality for presence detection and sensing when external audio devices, such as microphone, audio input, and speakers are plugged into the ports of the connector.
"The smart audio jack connector family offers a range of options to design engineers including 3-port, 5-port and 6-port connectors," said David Sideck, FCI regional market manager. "These shielded connectors also feature color-coded jack ports that, when used in combination with color coded cable ends, can be used to guide users toward proper assembly during system setup."
Smart audio jacks are designed for through-hole solder termination to the motherboard and are RoHS compatible.
The connectors are designed for an operating range of -25°C to +100°C. The maximum initial contact resistance is 50mΩ with a current rating of 1Amp maximum per contact. Connectors are rated for a minimum 1,000 durability cycles.
Samples are available for delivery, with production lead times from stock to 4-6 weeks.
