Molex 0.95mm (.037”) Height SlimStack™ Connectors
Offer Ultra Low-Profile Space Savings

Molex announces the new 0.95mm (.037") Height SlimStack connectors. With their ultra low-profile stacking, they are well-suited for tight packaging applications such as cell phones, PDAs, digital consumer equipment and other hand held systems.

LISLE, IL – April 29, 2004 – A new range of 0.95mm (.037”) height SlimStack™ connectors from Molex Incorporated (NASDAQ: MOLX and MOLXA) offers ultra low-profile stacking for tight-packaging applications such as cell phones, PDAs, digital consumer equipment and other hand held systems. These new 0.40mm (.016”) pitch SMT connectors come in single and dual row versions in circuit sizes from 7-80.

The dual-row version can be used in board-to-board or flex-to-board applications, while the single-row is used only with flex cable on one side. The thin profile designs of these connectors make them an ideal alternative to FFC connectors in applications where FFC actuators are hard to engage.

The SlimStack connectors offer a number of features, including a gold-plated contact design that provides good electrical properties, as well as a tactile “click” to confirm mating. The connectors also include a nickel-plated barrier is selectively applied to terminals to help prevent solder wicking during high-temperature lead-free processes.

The connectors are rated at 50V/0.1A. Guide posts help facilitate mating, while solder tabs on each corner provide secure PCB retention. A wide area is available between solder pads on the dual-row version to allow space for PCB tracing. The connectors also feature a flat open area to enable pick-and-place.

These newest low-profile connectors are a part of Molex’s broad family of SlimStack connectors that includes various stack heights from 0.95mm (.037”) to 20.00mm (.787”), pitch sizes from 0.40mm (.016”) to 1.00mm (.039”), and circuit sizes from 7 to 240.

The SlimStack connectors offer flexibility at an affordable cost. Typical lead-time is seven weeks.
